Mumbai Apr steam coal imports drop sharp 55%

May 19: Steam coal imports through the port of Mumbai dropped a sharp 54.57% to 275,628 tons in April 2015 against a revised 606,833 tons (previously reported 626,832 tons) in March 2015, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With the revised March figures, total imports of steam coal during 2014-15 stood at 4,351,200 tons (previously reported at 4,371,199 tons).
Steam coal imports in April 2014 were at 396,684 tons.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Mumbai in 2012-13 and 2013-14:

In April 2015, the entire volume arrived from Indonesia in a range of Rs 3,681 – Rs 4,791 per ton ($58-76).
In March 2015, however, a volume of 547,728 tons (previously reported as 567,727 tons arrived from various countries whose price range could not be confirmed) came in from Indonesia in a range of Rs 3,153 – Rs 4,934 per ton ($50-78) while 59,105 tons arrive from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 3,744 ($59).
