Mumbai Mar steam coal imports spurt 142% m-o-m

April 29: Steam coal imports through the port of Mumbai surged by 142.62% to 626,832 tons in March 2015 against a volume of 258,356 tons in February 2015, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With the March figures, total imports of steam coal during 2014-15 stood at 4,371,199 tons against 3,922,076 tons registered during the corresponding period of 2012-13.
Steam coal imports in March 2014 were at 335,732 tons.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Mumbai in 2012-13 and 2013-14:

In March 2015, a volume of 567,727 tons arrived from various countries whose price range could not be confirmed while 59,105 tons arrive from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 3,744 ($59).
In February 2015, however, the entire volume arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 3,190 – Rs 4,474 ($51-$72) per ton.
