Mumbai’s Oct steam coal imports edge down 2% m-o-m

November 25: Steam coal imports through the port of Mumbai edged down 1.83% to 296,778 tons in October 2015 against 302,318 tons in September, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With the October figures, total steam coal imports through the port in the first seven months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 stood at 2,336,102 tons against 2,331,861 tons seen in the same period of the last fiscal of 2014-15.
Total imports of steam coal during 2014-15 stood at 4,351,200 tons.
Steam coal imports in October 2014 were at 360,818 tons.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Mumbai in 2015-16 and 2014-15:

October 2015 saw the entire volume arriving from Indonesia in a range of Rs 3,841 – Rs 4,185 per ton ($59-63) per ton.
In September 2015, all the consignments arrived from Indonesia too but in a range of Rs 2,881 – Rs 4,243 ($43-63) per ton.
