Mundra Port Dec steam coal imports drop 38% m-o-m

January 16: Steam coal imports through the port of Mundra fell 37.75% to 1,267,111 tons in December 2014 from 2,035,478 tons reported in November 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In December 2013, steam coal imports via the port stood at 1,359,755 tons.
Total imports of non-coking coal through Mundra Port during the first nine months of 2014-15 stood at 17,641,221 tons against 14,682,373 tons reported during the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via Mundra Port in 2014-15 and 2013-14 (in tons):

In December 2014, 127,781 tons came from Australia at a price of Rs 4,680 ($75) per ton, 1,060,330 tons from Indonesia at Rs 1,165-Rs 4,600 ($19-$72) per ton, 54,000 tons came from South Africa at Rs 4,592-Rs 4,600 ($73-$74) per ton while the balance 25,000 tons came in from the US at Rs 6,449 ($101) per ton.
However, during November 2014, 1,869,271 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,820-Rs 5,909 ($46-$95), 77,000 tons from South Africa at Rs 4,741 ($76) per ton while the balance 89,207 tons came in from US at Rs 6,253-Rs 6,347 ($101) per ton.
