Imports of non-coking coal through Mundra Port stood at 14.67 million tons (mt) in 2015-16, down 35.67% from 22.78 mt imported in 2014-15, according to provisional information available with ICMW.
The figures are only for Mundra Port and do not include imports through Mundra Special Economic Zone through which Adani Power’s coal is imported, sources said.
In March 2016, the last month of 2015-16, the imports of non-coking coal through the port stood at 1.03 mt, down 27.67% compared to 1.42 mt imported in February 2016.
In March 2015, steam coal imports through the port stood at 2.16 mt.

In March 2016, a volume of 374,247 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,003 to Rs 4,570 ($30-$68) per ton and 56,000 tons from the United States at a price range of Rs 5,656 –Rs 5,872 ($83-$86) per ton. Further details of the remaining 597,940 tons were not available.
In February 2016, a volume of 279,499 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 3,249 – Rs 4,044 ($47-$59), 857,599 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2 ,552 Rs 3,464 ($37-$51) per ton, 80,134 tons from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 3,069 ($45) per ton, 80,000 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 2,496-Rs 3,163 ($36-$46) and the remaining 124,500 tons from the United States at a range of Rs 5,325-Rs 6,213 ($78-$90).
