Coking coal imports through the port of Mundra increased sharply or by 126.12% to 108,465 tons in December 2015 compared to 47,967 tons in November, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In December 2014, coking coal imports via Mundra Port had stood at 40,825 tons.
However, during the first nine months (April-December) of the current fiscal (2015-16), coking coal imports through Mundra Port was down by 7.67% to 745,986 tons from 807,977 tons imported in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Mundra Port in 2015-16 and 2014-15 (in tons):

In December 2015, a volume of 90,965 tons came from Australia at a price range of ` Rs 5,986 – Rs 6,825 ($90-$102) and 17,500 tons came from Mozambique at a price range of Rs 4,493- Rs 5,905 ($67-$88)
In November 2015, a volume of 32,967 tons of the material came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 5,986-Rs 6,754 ($90-$102) per ton and 15,000 tons from Mozambique at a price range of Rs 4,367-Rs 4,423 ($67) per ton.
