Coking coal imports through the port of Mundra increased 10.69% to 108,465 tons in January 2016 compared to 108,465 tons in December 2015, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In January 2015, coking coal imports via Mundra Port had stood at 40,825 tons.
However, during the first 10 months (April-January) of FY2015-16, coking coal imports through Mundra Port were down by 2.37% to 866,048 tons from 887,078 tons imported in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Mundra Port in 2015-16 and 2014-15 (in tons):

In January 2016, a volume of 110,062 tons of the material came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 5,114-Rs 6,187 ($76-$90) per ton and 10,000 tons from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 5,927($88) per ton.
In December 2015, a volume of 90,965 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 5,986 – Rs 6,825 ($90-$102) and 17,500 tons came from Mozambique at a price range of Rs 4,493- Rs 5,905 ($67-$88) per ton.
