NCL earmarks Rs 5,750 crore towards HEMM till 2020

December 3: Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL) has earmarked an investment of Rs 5,750 crore for procurement of heavy earth moving machineries (HEMM) during the next five years, according to information available with ICMW.
Of the total investment, Rs 350 crore is estimated for the current year (2015-16), while the same would be Rs 650 crore next year, a company source said.
There would be a jump in investments to Rs 2,000 crore in 2017-18, while Rs 1,500 crore and Rs 1,250 crore would be invested in the last two years of the decade.
Currently, the HEMM population in NCL projects is 1,046 (excluding surveyed off but working) that comprises of high capacity 34/72, 24/96, 15/90 draglines (Krishnashila project has recently been provided with new 34/72 D/L), high capacity shovels (20, 10-12 cum, 9.5 cum capacity), high capacity dumpers (85, 100, 120 and 170 tons capacity), dozers (860, 770, 480, 410, 320, 280 HP Cap), drills, payloaders, etc.
