NECL gets EC for Tikak Extension OCP in Assam

July 9: North Eastern Coalfields Ltd (NECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd (CIL), has obtained environmental clearance (EC) from the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) for its Tikak Extension Opencast Mine project in Tinsukia, Assam.

The ministry awarded the EC vide a letter issued to the management on July 8, 2014.

As per the communique, the project would come up in an area of 175.40 ha in the Makum coalfield and produce 0.2 million tons (mt) of A-grade coal every year.

The total geological reserves are 4.32 mt and mineable reserves are at 3.89 mt.
