NLC July output falls short of target by 25.17%

September 12: Lignite production of Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) during July 2014 fell short of its target of 22.45 million tons set by the Ministry of Coal (MoC) by 25.17% to 16.80 mt, according to official data.

On a year-on-year basis, lignite output fell 0.53% against 16.89 mt achieved in July 2013.

Overburden lignite mining for July 2014 dropped marginally by 0.94% to 137.20 mt against the targeted 138.50 mt while on a y-o-y basis increased 10.64% against 124.01 mt in July 2013.

Gross power generation by the PSU, at 1,564.72 million units (MU) in July 2014 declined by 1.90% against the targeted 1,595.05 MU while on a y-o-y basis the same dropped by 4.86% against 1,644.64 MU in July 2013.

Power exports by LNC dropped 1.07% in July 2014 to 1,320.78 MU against the targeted 1,335.05 MU. The same, on a y-o-y basis, increased 5.34% over 1,395.36 MU achieved in July 2013.
