NLC floats EoI to acquire thermal power projects

June 13: Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd. (NLC) has invited Expression of Interest (EoI) from state electricity boards, power generation companies, independent power producers, power plant developers, captive power producers or their authorized representatives to offer their operational/ commissioned/synchronized/under construction/under planning coal lignite based thermal power projects for acquisition, according to information available with ICMW.

These thermal power projects should be of unit capacity 100 MW or above (based on domestic/imported as well as mix of domestic and imported coal) in India having a requisite land, firm fuel and water linkages.

Interested parties can submit their bids till July 14, 2014.

It has been observed that during the last few years a number of power producing companies were faced with financial crisis as they failed to attract adequate financial assistance. This is mainly because they failed to sign power purchase agreements (PPA) with Coal India Limited (CIL) or Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and hence could not complete the power projects undertaken by them. This acquisition is mainly aimed at benefitting the completion of such power projects.
