04 Mar 2015
The NSW government has approved ongoing operations at Wesfarmers Resources Bengalla coal mine in the state's Hunter Valley.
Wesfarmers Resources managing director Stewart Butel said the approval secured the long-term future for the mine, managed by Coal & Allied, part of Rio Tinto Coal Australia, and its 400-strong workforce.
Wesfarmers has a 40 per cent interest in the Bengalla mine, near Muswellbrook, which produces steaming coal for export markets.
