NTECL floats tender to procure 0.8 mt of imported coal

August 12: NTPC Tamilnadu Energy Company Limited (NTECL), a joint venture of NTPC Ltd and TNEB, has floated an invitation for bids (IFB) for procurement of 0.8 million tons (mt) of imported coal on CIF/high sea sales basis for its Vallur thermal power plant.
The bidding documents shall be on sale up to September 6, 2014 and interested parties, which have supplied a minimum of 0.36 mt of any dry bulk commodity to any firm in India, in any continuous 12 months, in one or multiple contracts during the past three years, can submit their bids (both technical-commercial and price bid) up to September 22, 2014.
As per the tender floated on August 9, NTECL will take delivery of coal at Kamarajar Port (formerly Ennore Port).
NTECL had been given a target to import 1.8 mt coal in 2014-15 and it had already floated a tender in February this year for 1 mt imported coal.
The company has already received 0.633 mt of imported coal during the first four months (April-July) of 2014-15, according to data from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
