NTPC aiming to add 2,145 MW capacity in 2015-16

April 2: NTPC Limited, India’s leading power generator, has set a target of generating 246 billion units (BU) of electricity and add 2,145 MW of new generation capacity in 2015-16, a release by the company said.
“NTPC shall strive to generate 246 BU during the year under ‘Excellent’ category for 2015-16 as per the MoU signed between NTPC and the Ministry of Power,” the release said.
The MoU envisages fresh capacity addition of 2,145 MW and award of 3,000 MW of thermal and 250 MW of solar PV projects, it said.
Milestones related to ongoing projects and coal mines and parameters related to financial performance, R&D, human resource management, initiatives for growth etc as per guidelines of the Department of Public Enterprises are also part of the signed MoU.
The Ministry of Power shall provide necessary assistance to NTPC in commercial, fuel security, ash utilisation, land acquisition etc.
