NTPC chief hails new govt’s power sector initiatives

August 27: The NDA government’s vision of providing power 24X7 to each household will boost growth opportunities for the country’s power sector, NTPC Chairman Arup Roy Chowdhury said on August 27.
Addressing the AGM of the company, he said the decision to put coal, power and renewable energy under one minister will result in an integrated energy approach and open up new business opportunities for the country’s largest power utility.
About the company performance, he said, during the year 2013-14, NTPC crossed 43,000 MW capacity and the current installed capacity is 43,128 MW. Altogether, 1,835 MW new capacity was added during 2013-14.
NTPC has awarded work for 4,150 MW capacity and exceeded the capex target of Rs 20,200 crore during 2013-14, he added.
The company announced total dividend of Rs 5.75 per share for the year under review.
