NTPC extends bid opening date for 7 mt imported coal tender
05 Jun 2014
June 5: NTPC Limited has extended by one week the last date for submission of bids and also the techno-commercial bid opening date for procuring a total of 7 million tons (mt) of imported steam coal, according to information available with ICMW.
“The bid submission date and the opening of the techno-commercial bids have been extended to June 12 from the earlier planned June 5 at the request of suppliers,” a source familiar with the development said.
NTPC had, on April 28, floated four different tenders to procure 7 mt imported coal on “FOR destination basis” for its 12 power plants.
Of the total quantity, 2.05 mt was to be supplied to the Simhadri and Ramagundam power plants, 2.25 mt to Talcher, Kaniha, Farakka, Kahalgaon and Barh plants, 1.55 mt to the Dadri, Sipat and Mouda units and 1.15 mt to the Rihand and Vindhyachal power plants.
The bid document sale date, which started on April 30, was stopped on May 21, the source said.
NTPC has been given a target by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), a wing of the Ministry of Power, to import 16.60 mt coal in 2014-15. The target for 2013-14 was also 16.60 mt, but the company had ended with total imports of 10.56 mt, which was 64% of the target.
