NTPC extends imported coal submission date

November 11: NTPC Ltd has, for the second time, extended the deadline for submission of bids to procure 5 million tons (mt) of imported coal to November 30, according to information available with ICMW.

The tender for supply of coal to 12 power plants was floated at the beginning of October and the last date for submission of offers was initially set for October 31, but was extended to November 7.

“However, the company has, once again, extended the deadline till November 30 because of a delay in the finalisation of the earlier e-tender floated in September,” sources familiar with the development said.

Through the four separate tenders, NTPC was looking to procure coal with GCV (ADB) of 5,300-5,800 Kcal/kg, moisture content of 32%, ash content of 20% and sulphur content of 1%.

Of the total four tenders, one was for 1.30 mt of imported coal for its Ramagundam and Simhadri power plants in Andhra Pradesh. The second tender was also for 1.30 mt for its plants at Dadri, Unchahar, Sipat, Korba and Mouda.

The third tender was for 0.80 mt of imported coal for Rihand and Vindhyachal power plants whereas the fourth tender of 1.60 mt was for Talcher Kaniha, Farakka and Kahalgaon plants.
