NTPC floats tenders for 7 mt of imported coal

February 10: NTPC Ltd has floated four separate tenders inviting offers from suppliers to procure a total of 7 million tons (mt) of imported steam coal for its 17 power plants.

The company will sell the tender documents till March 2, 2015 and interested parties will be able to submit their offers till March 17, 2015 while the delivery has to be completed on ‘FOR destination’ basis within four months of placement of the order.

Through the latest tender, NTPC is looking to procure coal with GCV (ADB) of 5,700 Kcal/kg, moisture content of 25%, ash content of 15% and sulphur content of 0.90%.

Of the total four tenders, two are for 2.25 mt each. One of them is for Talcher Kaniha, Talcher Thermal, Farakka, Kahalgaon, Barh and Badarpur thermal power stations whereas the other is for Dadri, Unchahar, Tanda, Sipat, Korba and Mouda power plants.

The third tender is for 1 mt of imported coal to be procured for the company’s power stations at Simhadri and Ramagundam.

The fourth tender is for 1.50 mt of imported coal for NTPC’s Rihand, Singrauli and Vindhyachal power plants.

The company had last floated four separate tenders inviting offers from suppliers to procure a total of 5 mt of imported steam coal for its 12 power plants in October 2014, according to information available with ICMW.
