NTPC issues bonus debentures to shareholders

March 31: NTPC Limited, on March 31, said it has issued bonus debentures of Rs 12.50 each for every one fully paid-up equity shares of Rs 10 held by its shareholders.

This is the largest ever bonus debentures issue of Rs 10,307 crore in India and the issue created the largest debenture holders base of over 7 lakh investors, the company said in a release.

In order to mark the occasion, a replica of the certificate of bonus debenture was presented by the CMD and other members of the board of NTPC to the finance minister in the presence of the Power Minister on March 26.

NTPC became the first PSU and first maharatna to undertake such an innovative capital restructuring exercise.
