NTPC plans 4,000-MW power plant in Telangana

July 8: NTPC Limited, the largest power utility in India, has planned to set up a 4,000- MW power generation plant as an expansion unit, adjacent to its existing units in Ramagundam, Telangana, the company said in a statement.
The required coal linkage for the plant will be taken up by the Telangana government with the Government of India.
“The government will undertake filling the mines with ash,” K Chandrasekhar Rao, Chief Minister, Telangana, said.
Commenting on the project, Arup Roy Choudhury, Chairman, NTPC, said, the work at the unit will commence immediately and the first unit will be completed within 39 months. Necessary environmental clearances will be obtained by the Telangana government for establishing the unit.
