September 1: NTPC Ltd plans to add about 1,800 MW of new generation capacity in 2014-15, its Chairman & Managing Director Arup Roy Choudhury has said.
“We plan to add about 1,800 MW capacity in the current financial year but in the 12th Five-Year Plan, we plan to add 14,000 MW,” he told ICMW.
“We are at the moment executing projects worth around 22,000 MW. Going by that, we would definitely achieve the target of 14,000 MW. So far, in the 12th Plan, we have already added about 6,000 MW while 8,000 MW is left. But, considering that we are executing projects of about 22,000 MW, adding 8,000 MW in the balance period of the 12th Plan should not be an issue,” Choudhury said.
