NTPC re-floats 5-mt imported coal tender
04 Sep 2014
September 4: NTPC Ltd, which had floated four separate invitation of bids (IFBs) to procure a total of 5 million tons (mt) of imported coal on FOR basis for its 12 power plants and had later cancelled these, has re-issued four tenders to procure a total of 5 mt imported steam coal for its various power stations across the country.
It has done so through an e-tendering and reverse auction process, according to information available with ICMW.
ICMW had earlier reported that the invitation of bids had been cancelled as the management had decided to procure the material through e-tendering to maintain transparency and accuracy which could be better ensured by the e-tendering process rather than the regular tendering procedure.
The material to be procured should have a GCV ranging from 5,300-5,800 Kcal/Kg while the moisture content should be 32%, ash content 20% and sulphur content 1%.
The first tender is for 1.6 mt of imported coal for its Ramagundam and Simhadri power plants in Andhra Pradesh while the second seeks 0.9 mt of imported coal for the Dadri thermal power plant in New Delhi, Sipat plant in Chhattisgarh and Mouda unit in Maharashtra.
The third tender is for 0.7 mt of imported coal for the Rihand and Vindhyachal power plants in Uttar Pradesh.
The fourth tender is for 1.8 mt of imported steam coal for the Talcher Kaniha plant in Orissa, Farakka unit in West Bengal and Kahalgaon plant in Bihar.
The total quantity of imported coal will have to be delivered to the power stations in a four-month period, as per the delivery schedule.
Interested parties can submit their bids till October 8, 2014.
