NTPC receives 5-6 offers against its 5 mt imported coal tenders

December 15: NTPC Ltd, has received offers from 5-6 leading coal traders/suppliers against its four global tenders to procure a total of 5 million tons (mt) imported steam coal, a source said.
“5-6 companies have responded to the tenders separately. Bids have been opened and evaluation is going on,” the source added.
The company had floated the tenders at the beginning of October this year and initially the last date for submission of offers was fixed for October 31, which was extended to November 7 and subsequently to November 30.
Through the four separate tenders, NTPC was looking to procure coal with GCV (ADB) of 5300-5800 Kcal/kg, moisture content of 32%, ash content of 20% and sulphur content of 1%.
Of the total four tenders, one was for 1.30 mt imported coal for its Ramagundam and Simhadri power plants in Andhra Pradesh, the second tender was also for 1.30 mt for Dadri, Unchahar, Sipat, Korba, and Mouda plants.
The third tender was for 0.80 mt imported coal for Rihand and Vindhyachal power plants whereas the fourth tender of 1.60 mt was for imported coal for Talcher Kaniha, Farakka and Kahalgaon plants.
