NTPC’s Nov coal import only 49% of revised target

The receipt of imported coal by NTPC in November stood at 490,000 tons, which was only 49% of the target of 700,000 tons for the month, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

The imports in November were down 23.80% compared to 643,000 tons imported in October.

The power utility’s coal imports during the first eight months (April-November) of 2015-16 stood at 7.37 mt, which was 92% of the target of 8.00 mt but 24.17% lower compared to 9.72 mt imported during the corresponding period of 2014-15.
 

The company was initially given a target to import 22.00 mt of coal in 2015-16, which has subsequently been revised down to 12.00 mt amidst increased availability of domestic coal.

*Target for 2015-16 was initially set at 22.00 mt, but was subsequently reduced to 12.00 mt from July onwards.
