November 30: Imports of steam coal by NTPC Limited in October 2015 stood at 643,000 tons (mt) which was 64% of the target of 1 mt set for the month, as per data available with ICMW
The import volume in October was up 9.77% month-on-month compared to 583,000 tons in September, according to a provisional compilation of data available.
The power utilities coal imports during the first seven months (April-October) of 2015-16 stood at 6.81 mt, which was 97% of the target of 7.00 mt but 12.70% lower compared to 7.80 mt imported during the corresponding period of 2014-15.
The company was initially given a target to import 22.00 mt of coal in 2015-16, which has subsequently been revised down to 12.00 mt amidst increased availability of domestic coal.
