NTPC’s coal imports above target in October

November 19: Imports of steam coal by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) during October 2014 stood at 1,615,000 tons, which was 117% of the month’s target of 1,383,000 tons, as per provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) available with ICMW.

On a month-on-basis, October imports rose by 96.23% against September’s figure of 823,000 tons.

The imports in October 2014 were double compared to 254,000 tons imported in October 2013.

During the first seven months (April-October) of 2013-14, total coal imports by NTPC stood at 7,803,000 tons whereas the figure stood at 7,426,000 tons during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

Imports of steam coal by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) during 2013-14 increased 16.47% to 10.557 mt from 9.064 mt recorded during 2012-13.
