NTPC’s coal imports at 67% of July target

August 12: Imports of steam coal by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) during July 2014 stood at 926,000 tons, which was 67% of the month’s target of 1,383,000 tons, as per provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) available with ICMW.

On a month-on-basis, July imports fell by 6.46% against June’s figure of 990,000 tons.

The imports in July were down by almost 48% compared to 1,779,000 tons imported in July 2013.

During the first four months (April-June) 2013-14, total coal imports by NTPC stood at 4,486,000 tons whereas the figure stood at 5,596,000 tons during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

Imports of steam coal by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) during 2013-14 increased 16.47% to 10.557 mt from 9.064 mt recorded during 2012-13.
