NTPC’s coal imports at 68% of September target

October 24: Imports of steam coal by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) during September 2014 stood at 947,000 tons, which was 68% of the month’s target of 1,383,000 tons, as per provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) available with ICMW.

On a month-on-basis, September imports rose by 5.57% against August’s figure of 897,000 tons.

The imports in September were up twice as compared to 454,000 tons imported in September 2013.

During the first six months (April-September) 2013-14, total coal imports by NTPC stood at 6,188,000 tons whereas the figure stood at 7,340,000 tons during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

Imports of steam coal by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) during 2013-14 increased 16.47% to 10.557 mt from 9.064 mt recorded during 2012-13.
