NTPC’s coal imports fall 17.02% in June m-o-m

July 16: Imports of steam coal by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) during June 2014 fell 17.02% to 990,000 tons compared to 1,193,000 tons imported during May, according to provisional data from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) available with ICMW.

Imports by NTPC, however, were 72% of the target of 1,383,000 tons set by CEA for the month.

The imports in June were up 6.57% compared to 929,000 tons in June 2013.

During the first three months (April-June) 2013-14, total coal imports by NTPC stood at 3,565,000 tons against 2,538,000 tons recorded during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

Imports of steam coal by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) during 2013-14 increased 16.47% to 10.557 mt from 9.064 mt recorded during 2012-13.
