NTPC’s coal imports fall nearly 44.05% in Oct m-o-m

November 19: The import of steam coal by the National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC), in October fell sharply by 44.05% compared with its import in September.
The imports in October fell to 254,000 tons from 454,000 tons imported in September,
according to the provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) available with ICMW.
The imports by NTPC, however, were only 18.36% of the target of 1,383,000 tons set for the month set by CEA.
The imports in October were also down considerably compared to 742,000 tons imported in October 2012.
During the first seven months (April-October) of 2013-14, coal imports by NTPC increased 65.21% to 7.423 mt from 4.493 mt during the corresponding period of 2012-13
