NTPC’s coal imports fell 6.06% in May m-o-m

June 13: Imports of steam coal by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) during May 2014 fell 6.06% and stood at 1,193,000 tons as compared to 1,270,000 tons imported during April, according to the provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) available with ICMW.

Imports by NTPC, however, were 86.26% of the target of 1,383,000 tons set by CEA for the month.

The imports in May were considerably down 13.61% compared to 1,381,000 tons imported in May 2013.

During the first two months (April-May) 2013-14, total coal imports by NTPC stood at 2,544,000 tons whereas the figure stood at 1,818,000 tons during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

Imports of steam coal by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) during 2013-14 increased 16.47% to 10.557 mt from 9.064 mt recorded during 2012-13.
