The receipt of imported coal by NTPC in March 2016 stood at 350,000 tons, which was 32% of the target of 1,083,000 tons set for the month, and up 35.13% month-on-month compared to 259,000 tons imported in February 2016, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The power utility’s coal imports during the entire financial year of 2015-16 stood at 9.482 mt, which was 73% of the target of 13 mt set for the fiscal and 42% lower compared to 16.382 mt imported during the corresponding period of 2014-15.
The company was initially given a target to import 22 mt of coal in 2015-16, which was subsequently revised to 12 mt amidst increased availability of domestic coal and now this has been re-revised to 13 mt.
