September 16: NTPC Ltd’s global tender to procure 5.2 mt coal for its various power plants, which was initially scrapped and re-tendered, is believed to be attracting interest from traders, industry sources said.
“There was earlier an indication that only a few traders are interested in NTPC’s tenders after the re-tendering but now it appears that many traders have submitted bids,” an official from a leading company said.
“People were of the opinion that NTPC would once again scrap the tender but now the situation has changed,” the official added.
Earlier, NTPC had floated the tender in July, but had scrapped it and re-floated it in August with the bid-submission date of September 5, which was later extended to September 19.
