NTPC says Adra project a non-starter

September 12: The 1320 MW Adra Power project in West Bengal has become a non-starter because of non-availability of coal linkage to the plant, a top official of NTPC has said.
Adra is a joint venture between the Indian Railways and NTPC, but there is no coal linkage to the project.
"The Railway Board has been trying to get the linkage, but they have not succeeded as yet. The moment the Railways is able to secure coal, it will start," NTPC's Chairman and Managing Director Arup Roy Choudhury has said.
"As 90% of power from the project will go to Railways and the balance 10% to West Bengal government, Railways have to push for coal linkage," he added.
