NTPC ties up $430 million funding from JBIC

January 27: NTPC Ltd, on January 27, said it has entered into two foreign currency loan agreements with the Japan Bank for International Co-operation (JBIC), the Japan government’s policy-based financial institution, for $430 million (about Rs 2,650 crore) for its Kudgi and Auraiya projects.

The loan agreements were signed by Kulamani Biswal, Director (Finance), NTPC and Hiroshi Watanabe, Governor, JBIC, in New Delhi on January 25, 2014.

With an installed capacity of 42,454 MW through 16 coal-based, 7 gas-based, 2 solar renewable and 7 joint venture power stations, NTPC contributes nearly 28% of electricity generated in the country, with a share of about 19% in India's installed capacity.

NTPC has been ranked No.1 independent power producer globally in Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company rankings for the year 2013.
