NTPC to float new tender for 5 mt of imported coal
09 Sep 2013
September 9: Even as the last tender for procuring 5 million tons (mt) of imported coal is yet to be finalised, NTPC Ltd has planned to float a new tender for import of 5 mt of imported coal soon, a senior company official told ICMW on September 9.
The new tender is expected to be floated in October-November and would be finalised by December-January, the official said.
Meanwhile, the last tender which was floated in August is expected to be finalised by September-October. The utility has extended the date for opening the tender a number of times and is currently expected to open the same on September 19.
The company had earlier extended the bid opening date to September 5, sources said.
"The bid extension was largely due to international reasons of NTPC," an official with a trading company said.
Overall, the state-owned power generator aims to import 16 mt of coal in the current financial year (2013-14) which is equal to the import target set for the year.
