December 15: A few members of Federation of Nepal Chambers of Commerce (FNCC) plan to route their imported coking coal through Vizag Port, a senior official of the port told ICMW.
A delegation of from Nepal is scheduled to meet Vizag Port officials on December 19 to discuss the matter.
Meanwhile, an official from FNCC had called one of the officials of the port and informed that they would be willing to route their coking coal requirement through the port, the official said.
“They may ask for some concession but till now Vizag Port Trust has not considered any such proposition. They may take some cargo from Vizag to Paradip but they said that there is no possibility of moving it to Haldia,” he said.
“It is basically the space constraint in Haldia that has been forcing them to shift. Haldia is having low draft whereas Paradip or Vizag ports can handle big vessels of coal,” the official said.
