New Mangalore Dec coking coal imports down 59.36% m-o-m

January 27: Coking coal imports through New Mangalore Port during December 2014 fell sharply by almost 59.36% to 49,857 tons from 122,691 tons recorded in November 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In December 2013, coking coal imports via the port stood at 49,755 tons.
Total imports of coking coal through New Mangalore Port in April-December, 2014-15 stood at 600,770 tons against 400,867 tons recorded in the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via New Mangalore Port in 2014-15 and 2013-14 (in tons):

In December 2014, the entire material came in from Mozambique at a price of Rs 7,526 ($120) per ton.
However, during November 2014, out of the entire quantity, 31,999 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 6,568-Rs 9,061 ($106-$146) per ton, 14,000 tons came from Canada at a price of Rs 7,484 ($121) per ton while the balance 76,692 tons came in from Mozambique at a price of Rs 7,658 ($124) per ton.
