Steam coal imports via New Mangalore Port stood at 471,904 tons in December, down 11.92% month-on-month compared to 535,786 tons imported in November 2015, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
There were 268,357 tons of non-coking coal imports via this port in December 2014.
Total steam coal imports through the port during the first nine months (April-December) of 2015-16 stood at 3,423,535 tons against 2,400,182 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Imports of steam coal through the port in financial year 2014-15 stood at 3,859,485 tons.

In December 2015, out the entire material, 444,904 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 1,682-Rs 4,705 ($25-$70) per ton and 27,000 tons from South Africa in a price range of Rs 2,785-Rs 4,265 ($41-$63) per ton.
In November 2015, out of the entire material, 417,817 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 1,416-Rs 5,522 ($21-$69) per ton and 117,969 tons from South Africa in a price range of Rs 2,741-Rs 4,327 ($41-$66) per ton.
