April 29: Coking coal imports through New Mangalore Port during financial year 1914-15 rose to 7,34,726 tons, resulting in a 45.70% rise over 5,04,283 tons imported during 2013-14, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Coking coal imports through New Mangalore Port during March 2015 were up 571.52%, ie, nearly 6 times, to 34,664 tons compared to 5,162 tons in February 2015.
In March 2014, coking coal imports via the port stood at 31,000 tons.

During March 2015, out of the entire material of 34,664 tons, 13,832 tons came from Australia at Rs 6,965 ($ 111) per ton and 20,832 tons from Canada at Rs 7,149 ($114) per ton.
During February 2015, the entire material came from Australia at Rs 6,568 ($105) per ton.
