New Mangalore’s Nov steam coal imports fall 71% m-o-m

December 29: Non-coking coal imports through New Mangalore Port during November 2014 fell 70.57% to 40,500 tons from 137,599 tons recorded in October, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In November 2013, non-coking coal imports via the port stood at 163,883 tons.
Total imports of non-coking coal through New Mangalore Port in April-November, 2014-15 stood at 1,587,079 tons against 2,793,404 tons recorded in the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via New Mangalore Port in 2014-15 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During November 2014, the entire material came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,177-Rs 5,013 ($67-$80) per ton.
However, in October 2014, the entire material came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,263-Rs 5,616 ($69-$90) per ton while in September 2014, the entire quantity came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,158-Rs 5,434 ($68-$88) per ton.
