After a seven months gap, 9,988 tons of PCI coal was imported via New Mangalore Port in February 2016, as per provisional data available with ICMW. Prior to that, PCI coal had been imported via this port in June 2015.
A volume of 103,526 tons of PCI coal had been imported via this port in February 2015.
Total PCI coal imports through the port during the first 11 months (April- February) of 2015-16 stood at a mere 16,288 tons against 274,334 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Imports of PCI coal through the port in financial year 2014-15 stood at 274,334 tons.

In February 2016, the entire volume of 9,988 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 5,496 -Rs 6,043 ($80-$88) per ton.
