New bulk terminal may reduce logistics costs of Ambuja Cements

April 24: A new bulk cement terminal of Ambuja Cements Limited at New Mangalore Port, with a capacity of 1 million tons per annum (mtpa), is expected to reduce logistics costs of the company, said its annual report.
This is the company's 4th bulk cement terminal. The other three are located in Muldwarka Port in Gujarat, Panvel in Maharashtra and Cochin in Kerala.
Ambuja Bulk Cement Terminal (BCT), which was commissioned earlier this year, is the first fully automatic terminal of the company.
"This will help the company reduce the negative seasonality effect on our Gujarat plant. The logistic costs will also be reduced as there will be an opportunity to optimise by using the same vessel for both Mangalore and Cochin terminals in one trip. It will also help the company enhance its footprint in the southern part of India," the company said.
