Neyveli Lignite floats tender for 0.80 mt imported coal

December 15: Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) has floated a global tender to procure 0.80 million tons (mt) of imported coal, according to information available with ICMW.

The bids have been invited online (e-tendering and e-reverse auction) on two-stage bidding basis from eligible bidders for procurement of the material.

The bid guarantee amount is Rs 3.71 crore.

The e-tender document can be downloaded from December 15, 2015. The last date for submission of bids is January 2, 2016. The bids will be opened on the same day.

NLC recently suffered huge losses in lignite production as its mines were inundated in flood water during the Chennai rains. Also, there was hardly any stock of dry lignite for consumption by its power plants, company sources said.
