Neyveli Lignite plans to acquire small power units

December 18: Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) has invited expressions of interest (EoI) from power generators to acquire small (100 MW or above) coal-based power projects.
The state-owned lignite producer has sought offers from state electricity boards (SEBs), power generation companies, independent power producers (IPP), power plant developers, captive power producers (or their authorised representatives) for coal/lignite-based plants. The coal-based plants can be fuelled by domestic or imported coal or a mix of both.
The units should have a total capacity of 100 MW or above and should be operational/commissioned/synchronised/under construction/under planning.
Also, these units should meet the requirements of requisite land, fuel and water linkages, statutory clearances, with power purchase agreement (PPA) in place, for possible acquisition by NLC.
The last date for submitting EoIs is January 11, 2016.
