Nine coal miners are missing after a methane gas explosion in an illegal pit in the east Ukrainian region of Donetsk.
The mine is in the small town of Kirovske, 90 kilometers north of Donetsk.
The men are believed to be 300 metres underground. A rescue operation is underway.
A spokesperson for the Mine Rescue Services said the mine was illegal and in violation of safety regulations.
