No EC application pending for Mahanadi Coalfields
02 Mar 2016
Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) has no environmental clearance (EC) applications pending before the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) as of date, company Chairman-cum-Managing Director A K Jha said.
“Currently, no EC proposal is due as of date. However, 12 FC proposals are due as of today,” the CMD said.
He further said that the status of environmental clearances is “quite comfortable” and commensurate with the production target up to 2019-20 (i.e. 250 mt).
“However, forestry clearance is an issue for all mines and especially Palli Sabha under FRA 2006, and the DGPS survey and its authentication by ORSAC takes a lot of time. Under the present regime, the EC processes has been streamlined but in forest clearance the desired pace is not visible,” Jha added.
