No fresh deal by Indian buyers for US steam coal

November 11: There have been no reports of any deal between any Indian buyer and trader or miner for supply of US steam coal to India, industry sources said.

“The last consignment of US steam was brought by Shree Cement arrived at Mundra Port recently. The company had brought another capesize vessel at Navlakhi port in October,” the sources said.

The material had arrived from Kentucky and Pennsylvania in West Virginia.

“Shree Cement has no plans as of now to bring US steam coal at least in 2013,” the source said, adding, “The cement maker is however in talks with some miners to bring in about 0.5 million tons (mt) of US steam coal in 2014 through offtake agreement,” the sources added.
