No independent pricing authority for coal: Minister
08 Jul 2014
July 8: The government has no plans to set up an independent pricing authority for coal, the Ministry of Coal (MoC), on July 7, said through an official release.
Citing reasons, Piyush Goyal, Minister of State for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy (Independent Charge) stated that pricing of coal has been fully deregulated by the government through the Colliery Control Order, 2000, where coal companies themselves fix the coal price based on input costs, inflation index, market trends etc and notify the same periodically.
