February 19: Several months after consultancy firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt Ltd was appointed to institute a study on restructuring options for state-owned Coal India Ltd (CIL), there has been no development on the proposal, a senior official from the company said.
“As of today, there is no development on restructuring of the company as per Deloitte’s recommendations,” the official said.
Coal and power minister Piyush Goyal had informed Parliament in December last calendar that the consultancy firm has not yet submitted its final report.
“The consultant has not submitted the final report after taking into consideration the concerns expressed by the coal companies on the interim report,” Goyal had said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
